Welcome to SoupStack
Wandering soup wonderer. Former teacher, divorcée, and professional napper. I've called Stuttgart, Berkeley, Chicago and Astoria "home" - but no matter where I roam, one constant keeps me warm: soup. Some say I have a pot for a heart. Follow along on my soup soaked adventures - from slicing and dicing ingredients with abandon, to slurping down belly-warming bowls, to hopefully turning a profit pimping out pots of gold. This is soup slop to finish, straight from my ladle to your lips. Get ready for the sloshing, the slurping, and maybe even a splash or two as I sink my spoon into this soup-er quest to feed both belly and bank account. Bon appetit!
Why Soup?
If you visit my home on any given day, you'll be greeted by the aroma of simmering soup wafting down the stairs. The scent could be of ginger-garlic-onion, lemongrass-coconut, or perhaps toasted spices. Upstairs, you'll find me in the cozy kitchen presiding over multiple pots of bubbling broth and stock on my trusty stovetop. Just last week, I had chicken bone broth simmering gently on the back left burner alongside beef bone broth on the right. Meanwhile, chicken tortilla soup simmered on the front left burner with beef barley soup on the front right.
One of first times I tried soup. Noticed the crazed obsessive look in my eye. I knew I had discovered something amazing.
I love everything about the soup-making process - toasting spices to perfection, chopping vegetables with care, and how the smells permeate my hair and cozy sofa. I also enjoy funneling the finished soups into my bountiful collection of freezer-safe containers for later enjoyment. Best of all is calling friends in a soup-fueled fervor to share that my freezer overfloweth, and they're welcome to swing by for a week's worth of warm, homemade meals!
I’m launching this to share my soups with the world (or at least my friends and neighborhood). Let me make you soup! You could even have delicious and nutritious soups delivered to your very doorstep! These soups make for healthy and delicious lunches or dinners and will conveniently warm your heart and soul all week long.
The Basics
Every Wedndesday morning you’ll receive an email with the soup of the week, and an order form. You have until Sunday at 9am EST to put in your order!
I’ll grocery shop, cook, freeze and package your soups on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.
Tuesday is Soup Delivery Day! You can either pick up your soup in Astoria or I am happy to deliver it for a modest fee.
The soup is frozen in practical 16oz or 32oz increments, for best results freeze them as soon as you get them. To heat up just put the frozen block in a small pot and simmer covered on low until defrosted and hot!
What kind of soups will I be making?
Some soups I’ve been enjoying lately are Beef Barley Soup, Chicken Tortilla, and lemongrass-ginger beef bone broth. I’m open to suggestions! If you have a soup recipe you love and want to share with the world please send it to me and I’ll include it in a future order!
