Dearest Soupsters,
It has been nearly a month since I have sent you the gift of broth. Some of you have wondered where I am, some of you went on with your lives, one of you had your child draw a “we miss soup” card and dropped it off in my mail box, another one of you wrote me an email and asked “ Do you need soup delivered to you?”. Very sweet. I love you all.
Honestly, I have been feeling like the man is keeping me down. Egg prices are through the roof. Each of your precious banana bread loafs contains 2 eggs. I fear I may never financially recover from my choice not to raise loaf prices.
Then there is the matter of the jars. You wanted glass jars. I got you glass jars. You all looked me faithfully in the eye and said you would return them. And yet here I am. With no jars. The math is not mathing.
I thought about shutting Broth Ass Bitch down. Ending this soup venture and fulfilling my entrepreneurial itch elsewhere. And then, in San Juan, I tasted a soup that was light, balanced, and delightful. Made by a woman who was warm, and kind, and funny. And I remembered why I do this.
The soup of the week is tomato soup. Cardamom Buns are 86d not forever but for now. Banana Bread is back. Bone broth is back.
Tomato Soup: butter, olive oil, onions, garlic, veggie broth, tomatoes, cream, and spices
Bone Broth: Marrow Bones, NYC tap water, lemongrass, kafir lime leaves, salt, ginger
Banana Bread: Bananas, Flour, Eggs (wtf so many eggs $$$), Baking Soda, Brown Sugar, Salt
I just ask of you one thing. Bring me my jars. PLEASE. Mason jars are absurdly expensive. even to buy in bulk. No judgement and no hard feelings. Drop them in the container outside the building at your convenience.
Love,
The Broth Ass Bitch
